AB asked:

My wife and depecndent child received their SSN this year. I filed tax return jointly with my wife but forgot to change her (and our dependendent sons) ITIN with SSN number. To receive economy stimulus package can we resubmit the tax return changing ITIN to SSN. Also how this could be done?

I don’t think that sending amended tax return will help. You may get rebate when you file your 2008 tax return.

If you do not receive full amount of $600 now, then you may get the balance amount when you file your 2008 return, and you become eligible for the tax rebate.

For information on stimulus tax rebate schedule, the eligibility and how much rebate you will get read:

You can file an amendment and change it. That might get you the stimulus payment, at least for you and your wife.

The rebate is based on the tax return as ORIGINALLY filed.

You will have to wait until you file your 2008 tax return (and be sure to use the SSNs then) to see if you qualify on the 2nd chance worksheet.
