In view of the fact that EU countries, their residents and their corporations, are now investing a proportion of GDP to fight climate change whilst the World’s largest economy still fails to face up to the challenge would they not be justified in such a move?

Global warming is just a scam to raise taxes isn’t it. Europe is going to tax itself back to the stone age.

Each sovereign nation is entitled to tax as it sees fit. Or maybe the EU can do it for you. Americans may think it fair or not fair, but that does not matter. You don’t need the approval of Americans.

The taxes would simply be passed on to the consumer. The net effect would be to pinch production thus eliminating jobs, goods, services, the tax base and investment opportunity.

We need to see the demographics of companies in the USA. How many foreign corporations have subsidiaries in the USA today . What are they called. They pay a percentage or fees to their prime corporation as do ours. It is taxable or is it not?

I suspect that European subsidiaries of US companies already pay taxes in the countries in which they operate.

Yes definitely being irresponsible should cost us something. These corporations should also be taxed by the US for moving overseas or to tax free states. After all corporations can afford to pay taxes much more than the average citizen. Tax them hard!
